Wore this bass fishing on Lake Worth and camping with my dogs. The legibility is instant day or night, and the 400m rating means zero stress around water. The included leather strap was pretty stiff for the first 3-4 days before breaking in, so I started on the Kevlar strap.
Hi Jesse, starting on the Kevlar strap for lake days is the way to go! That thick leather strap softens up nicely after a few wears.
Most field watches barely handle a rainstorm, so getting 400m water resistance and a screw-down crown in a 40mm case is awesome for my wrist. Wore it on the Kevlar strap while kayaking the marshes and it was rock solid.
Got this for my older brother's 60th birthday since he camps and kayaks up in Wisconsin all summer. He loves the 40mm size and crisp white numerals. Only minor thing is the crown threads are tight at first and take a firm push to catch.

Bought the Field Crawler Black for my son when he commissioned last month. As a pilot myself, I wanted him to have a Swiss Sellita automatic with a clean, legible black dial and serious water resistance. He wears it every day.
Took this camping and trout fishing in Pisgah National Forest. Having 400m of water resistance and a screw-down crown in a 40mm field watch means I never have to take it off in the river. Even at 40mm, the watch has some real heft to it that took a couple days to get used to.
Hi Gabriel, Pisgah National Forest is a great place to put that 400m rating to work! Packing 40 ATM of water resistance into a 40mm steel case definitely gives it a solid feel.
With a 12.6mm case height and 40mm diameter, the Field Crawler Black disappears under a button-down cuff during client meetings. Swap it onto the leather strap and it works with a suit just as easily as jeans.
At 40mm wide and 12.6mm thin, this is the most comfortable automatic I own for daily wear in the machine shop and out on weekends. Matte black dial is super clean under the AR sapphire crystal.
Picked up the Field Crawler Black for my brother who was best man at my wedding. He wanted a tough 40mm everyday automatic and loved the two included straps. He noted the lume is decent for a few hours, though not an all-night torch.
