Honestly wasn't expecting much at $199, but the machining on the 40mm lugless steel case and the clarity of the flat AR sapphire crystal are top notch. The red dial is bold and fun. Only minor note is the small minute track markings take a second to focus on without my reading glasses.

As a retired mechanical engineer with a smaller wrist, lug-to-lug overhang is usually my biggest constraint when buying 40mm watches. Because the Snelway SRNM uses a shrouded, no-lug case construction where the strap mounts directly beneath the bezel perimeter, the effective lug-to-lug is simply the 40mm diameter. Combined with the flat AR-coated sapphire, 100m water resistance, and the 4Hz meca-quartz sweep of the Seiko VH31 caliber, it's a very clever everyday piece.
