fun friday watch
I wear traditional Swiss dress watches at the cardiology clinic most days, and this 12K Gold Blade is what I put on for Friday afternoons and dinner. At 12mm thick it still clears a casual button-down cuff.

A reliable Seiko automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. It winds from the motion of your wrist, so no battery is required.
It is rated to 50 meters (5 ATM), which covers rain, splashes and handwashing. It is not intended for swimming or diving.
The case measures 44mm (12mm thick) — a bold size that suits larger wrists (roughly 17.5 cm / 6.9 in and up). Our watch size guide (/pages/watch-size-guide) explains how to measure your wrist.
Its signature one-second-spin turbine dial rotates continuously beneath a jet-black face, catching light against a bold 12K gold case for a look that draws every eye.
The case measures 44mm across and about 12mm thick, a confident presence that still sits comfortably under a cuff.
A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal keeps the turbine dial clear and protected through daily wear.
On the ChronoSeasons dial it sits at Hour XI — Statement & Bold, part of the Legacy season, and suits nights out and occasions where the watch should be noticed.

Using a workhorse Seiko NH35 automatic caliber to drive a lightweight aluminum turbine wheel instead of a standard seconds hand is a clever bit of engineering. Because the NH35 has a 24-jewel hacking and hand-winding train with 42 hours of power reserve, servicing or regulating it down the road is simple. On my wrist the 44mm case wears more like a 42mm thanks to the stubby lugs.
Heavy 44mm gold-tone case and smooth turbine action. Ships in a cool box.
Even with the spinning turbine covering the dial, the white hour and minute tips against the outer chapter ring are easy to read at a glance. The 12mm case profile and tang buckle sit comfortably on my wrist.
Ordered this after seeing the spinning turbine online and wasn't sure what to expect. The brushed 12K gold-tone finish and heavy stainless core feel substantial on my wrist, and the sapphire glass is a nice surprise at this price.
The factory padded black leather strap looks sharp with the 12K gold case on my 8-inch wrist. I also tried swapping on an aftermarket 24mm FKM rubber strap, though getting the thick spring bars out of the lugs took 15 minutes.
Thanks for the note, Gage! Those heavy-duty spring bars sit deep in the 44mm case lugs to keep everything locked down.
I was skeptical about whether a turbine-dial watch at $350 would feel like a novelty toy. Once I held it, the weight of the 44mm case, the sapphire crystal, and the smooth sweep of the turbine blades proved it's solidly built.
Measured the case at 44mm across and 12mm thick. The Seiko automatic movement inside winds smoothly, holds its 42-hour reserve, and drives the spinning turbine dial without a hiccup. Sapphire crystal is flat and scratch-free.
