accurate swiss gmt
Straightforward 44mm dual-time watch. The black 316L steel finish is even, the sapphire crystal cuts glare, and the GMT hand tracks a second time zone reliably for my freight schedules.
The watch
Built around a black dial, the Bristol P-51 Mustang Tribute GMT pairs a 44mm case with a Swiss quartz movement. Highlights include original airframe material from the aircraft it honours set into the caseback, a production run limited to 1945 pieces and a second time zone for travel. It belongs to Hour VI, Field & Adventure, in our Expedition season: a natural choice for travel, the outdoors and long days on the move.
The North American P-51 Mustang is perhaps the most consequential Allied fighter plane of World War II. The Mustang was the first fighter able to escort the previously unprotected Allied bombers to Berlin and back. This tribute to the P-51 is a classic aviator design using a precision Swiss made quartz movement with GMT and date functions. The Super-LumiNova dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. This design is limited to 1945 units in honor of the end of WWII, with the case back displaying original airframe material from a P-51D Mustang.
Trademarks, trade names, aircraft models and company names are used for descriptive purposes only, to identify and describe the actual aircraft artifact incorporated into the watch.
Good to know
It runs on a Swiss quartz movement, GMT and Date Functions. Quartz keeps it accurate and low-maintenance; the battery simply needs replacing every few years.
Only splashes. It is rated to 50m (5 ATM), which handles rain and hand-washing, but it is not intended for swimming or submersion.
The case measures 44mm — a bold size that suits larger wrists (roughly 17.5 cm / 6.9 in and up). Our watch size guide (/pages/watch-size-guide) explains how to measure your wrist.
The caseback holds a genuine piece of P-51D Mustang, visible through the back of the case — a direct link to the aircraft the watch honours.
Yes. Production is limited to 1945 pieces, so once the run sells out it will not be repeated.
On the ChronoSeasons dial it sits at Hour VI — Field & Adventure, part of the Expedition season, and suits travel, the outdoors and long days on the move. It also appears in our Pilot & Aviation edit. Its second time zone makes it part of our GMT & Travel edit.
Yes. It ships brand-new and boxed from the brand's verified channel, with a 2-year warranty. Unworn watches can be returned within 30 days of delivery.

The P-51 Mustang is an icon of WWII aviation, and this black-on-black GMT captures its cockpit instrument look without overdoing it. I use the second time zone hand whenever I travel for medical conferences, and the real P-51 metal in the caseback is awesome.
Thank you, Raymond! 'Cadillac of the skies' says it all. Safe travels on your next conference trip!
Measured the 44mm case and checked the 24-hour GMT hand alignment when it arrived. Everything lines up cleanly under the sapphire crystal. When I tested a spare black steel bracelet on the lugs, resizing took 15-20 minutes with stubborn pins.
Was not sure what to expect at 447 dollars, but the weight of the 316L steel case, sapphire glass, and verified P-51 Mustang airframe insert impressed me right away. Note that the crown setting action was a little stiff out of the box before working it a few times.
I have several Swiss and German pilot watches in my box, and this Bristol P-51 Mustang GMT holds its own as a grab-and-go quartz traveler. The 44mm black 316L stainless steel case fits my wrist proportionally, the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is distortion-free, and the Swiss quartz GMT movement has kept within two seconds over a month. Best of all is the genuine P-51 airframe fragment inset into the 1945-piece limited caseback.
Thanks for the detailed review, Harold! We are honored the P-51 Mustang Tribute earned a spot alongside your other pilot watches.
I was skeptical about buying a black-coated aviation watch online, worried the finish might look cheap. In hand, the 44mm black 316L steel case, sapphire crystal, and P-51 relic are top notch. You can hear a slight audible stepper tick in a dead-quiet room.
Thank you for giving Bristol Aviator a try, Jim! We are glad the black 316L finish and P-51 relic won you over.
Picked this up for my dad since he has loved the P-51 Mustang his whole life. He was thrilled by the real Mustang airframe relic set into the back. Outer presentation box was fairly basic, though the watch is where the money went.
When I step out of the machine shop for client meetings, this black P-51 GMT looks sharp with a dark button-down shirt. Sits flat on my wrist. My only critique is the date window is a little small without my reading glasses.
Thanks for the feedback, Vincent! Glad the black P-51 Mustang GMT transitions so well from the shop to client meetings.
Wore this P-51 Mustang GMT on a four-day camping trip in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 50m water resistance, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and thick black leather band held up to rain and campfire chores, and the luminous hands are super legible.
Living in Wisconsin, I make the drive to EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh every summer to watch the P-51 Mustangs fly. This black-on-black 44mm GMT with actual P-51 airframe metal in the 1945-piece caseback and a crisp 24-hour hand is right up my alley.
