Wild dial pattern
Type C Fordite colors pop in person. Fits my wrist without overhang.
The watch
Built around a hand-cut fordite dial, the Ocean Crawler Champion Diver - Fordite Type C pairs a 44.2mm case with an automatic movement. Expect 600m water resistance and a sapphire crystal. We place it at Hour IV (Dive) of the Expedition season, for travel days near the water.
A one-of-a-kind hand-cut Fordite dial (Fordite Type C) makes every example unique, framed by a unidirectional rotating bezel and set into a 44.2mm case in 316L stainless steel. At 44.2mm across, 15mm thick and 51.8mm lug-to-lug, it wears with real presence on the wrist.
A self-winding automatic movement drives the Champion Diver, individually regulated for steady, accurate timekeeping. There is no battery to replace — the watch winds itself from the motion of your wrist.
Every Ocean Crawler is pressure-tested in water, and this one is rated to 600 metres (60 ATM). That is genuine capability for recreational and technical scuba diving, freediving and spearfishing. The unidirectional bezel and bright Super-LumiNova keep elapsed-time tracking clear even in dark water.
It is made for divers and enthusiasts who want a serious tool watch with genuine depth rating, Swiss-grade mechanics and a design that still turns heads above the surface.

Good to know
A self-winding automatic movement, individually regulated for accuracy. It winds from the motion of your wrist, so there is no battery to change.
It is rated to 600 metres (60 ATM) and pressure-tested, so it is suitable for recreational and technical scuba diving, freediving and spearfishing. Have the gaskets checked periodically to keep that rating.
The case measures 44.2mm (15mm thick, 22mm lug width) — a bold size that suits larger wrists (roughly 17.5 cm / 6.9 in and up). Our watch size guide (/pages/watch-size-guide) explains how to measure your wrist.
It has a hand-cut fordite dial, framed by a unidirectional rotating bezel, under an anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
It pairs 600 metres (60 ATM) of tested water resistance with a luminous 120-click timing bezel, a serious tool-watch build and Swiss Super-LumiNova, so it performs underwater and still looks refined on land.
The bezel and key dial markers carry Swiss Super-LumiNova, so elapsed-time tracking and reading the time stay clear in dark or murky water.

Swapped between the included leather and Kevlar straps right away, and also tried a grey FKM rubber band. The Kevlar balances the 44.2mm head best on my 6.75-inch wrist. The watch has some real heft to it that took a couple days to get used to.
Bought this for my older brother's retirement after thirty years in Detroit auto manufacturing. A dial made from cured paint slag was the most fitting gift I could find. He was floored when he opened it at his party and hasn't taken it off since.
I was hesitant to drop $1,300 online on a brand I had never handled in person, especially with a loud dial like Fordite. Once I opened the box, the weight of the 316L steel case and the clarity of the thick sapphire crystal won me over immediately.
I inspect boats around Massachusetts for a living, so I notice machining flaws quickly. This Type C dial is cleanly cut with zero dust under the 4.5mm domed sapphire. Crown threading is positive and the 60 ATM rating is legit.
The 316L brushing on the cushion case is even, the 120-click bezel has crisp detents, and timekeeping is within four seconds daily. Knocking a star because the shipping carrier delayed the box by two days, though the watch itself is great.
Now that I am retired, I spend three days a week kayaking and fishing down on the Gulf coast. Even on my smaller 6.5-inch wrist, the short lugs keep the case centered. Lume glows bright at 5 AM and the Kevlar strap shrugs off saltwater.
Hi Tom, sounds like you are making the most of retirement on the Gulf! Happy to hear the Champion Diver is serving you well out on the water.
Measured the case at 44.2mm across and 15mm thick, matching the spec sheet. Bezel alignment hits the markers dead on and the 4.5mm sapphire has clean AR coating. Only minor gripe is the crown threads are tight at first and take a firm push to catch.
