The watch

About this watch

Ocean Crawler Champion Diver - Fordite Type B: a hand-cut fordite-dial dive watch in a 44.2mm 316L stainless steel case, driven by an automatic movement. It brings 600m water resistance and a sapphire crystal. On the ChronoSeasons dial it sits at Hour IV — Dive, part of the Expedition season — and suits water sports and everyday wear.

Design

A one-of-a-kind hand-cut Fordite dial (Fordite Type B) makes every example unique, framed by a unidirectional rotating bezel and set into a 44.2mm case in 316L stainless steel. At 44.2mm across, 15mm thick and 51.8mm lug-to-lug, it wears with real presence on the wrist.

Movement

A self-winding automatic movement drives the Champion Diver, individually regulated for steady, accurate timekeeping. There is no battery to replace — the watch winds itself from the motion of your wrist.

In the water

Every Ocean Crawler is pressure-tested in water, and this one is rated to 600 metres (60 ATM). That is genuine capability for recreational and technical scuba diving, freediving and spearfishing. The unidirectional bezel and bright Super-LumiNova keep elapsed-time tracking clear even in dark water.

Who it’s for

It is made for divers and enthusiasts who want a serious tool watch with genuine depth rating, Swiss-grade mechanics and a design that still turns heads above the surface.

Stout lake watch

Wore this fishing on Lake Norman all weekend. The 600m rating and thick screw-down crown give me zero worries around the water, and the Swiss Super-LumiNova is easy to read before dawn. The included leather strap was pretty stiff for the first four days, so I mostly keep it on the Kevlar band.

Sharp studio piece

I appreciate materials with a story, and hand-cut Fordite delivers. It sits flat on my wrist and transitions easily from site walks in Texas heat to client presentations downtown. The leather strap dresses it up nicely with a blazer.

Adds color to a dark suit

I wear button-downs and lab coats all week at the pharmacy, plus suits for regional board meetings. Even at 44.2mm, the cushion profile slips under my French cuffs better than expected. The automotive paint layers in the dial always get a second look across the conference table.

unique fordite slice

I have about a dozen microbrand divers in the watch box, and this 44.2mm cushion case is one of the most distinctive. At 15mm thick with that beefy 4.5mm domed sapphire, it has serious wrist presence on my wrist. The 120-click bezel ratchets cleanly with zero backplay, and the movement has settled in at +3 seconds a day. Knocked off one star because the clasp lacks half-links, so the fit gets a little snug in Virginia humidity.

Reply from ChronoSeasons

Thanks for the detailed breakdown, Peter! Each Fordite slice really does come out one of a kind. Appreciate the feedback on the clasp sizing in humid weather as well.
