Great 60th birthday gift for dad
Bought this for my dad's 60th birthday. He loves the royal blue and gold combination and wears it everywhere, though he mentioned the date window is a little small without his reading glasses.

BERSIGAR Luxaura 1639: Two-Tone Blue Dial Edition

Bought this for my dad's 60th birthday. He loves the royal blue and gold combination and wears it everywhere, though he mentioned the date window is a little small without his reading glasses.
The royal blue dial and yellow gold accents pair nicely with a navy blazer and khakis for vendor meetings. Slips under a button-down sleeve better than most 42mm dive watches.
I have half a dozen Seiko and Swiss divers in my box, and the finishing on this Luxaura 1639 holds its own. The sapphire bezel insert gives the blue and gold a deep gloss that ceramic sometimes lacks, and the 42mm case balances well on my wrist. My NH35A caliber is running +4 sec/day after two weeks of daily wear.
Checked the tolerances when it arrived in Portsmouth: solid 316L end-links, crisp 120-click bezel action with proper alignment, and a reliable NH35A movement. Fits my wrist well and legibility is high.
Thanks for the review, Brian! Glad the bezel alignment and build tolerances hit the mark for you.
For $375 you rarely see a unidirectional sapphire bezel insert paired with an AR-coated sapphire crystal. The royal blue sunburst dial has deep color saturation in direct sunlight, and the geometric indices have clean gold surrounds. Inside, the Seiko NH35A automatic hacks and hand-winds smoothly and has stayed within +3 seconds per day on my wrist.
Sized the two-tone 316L bracelet for my wrist and also picked up a navy FKM rubber strap for weekend trips around the Bay Area. Both look great. The outer presentation box was fairly basic, though the watch is where the money went.
Appreciate the feedback, Benjamin! Swapping between the two-tone steel bracelet and navy FKM rubber is a great way to dress the 1639 up or down.
Got the two-tone blue Luxaura for my dad's retirement. He has wanted a blue-and-gold diver for years and was grinning ear to ear when he saw how the royal blue sunburst dial catches the Arizona sun.
I usually wear vintage pilot chronographs, so I wanted a two-tone blue diver for weekends at the lake. The rotating sapphire bezel is super crisp for timing. The 42mm steel case has some real heft that took a couple days to get used to.
Thanks for the review, Kevin! That solid 316L steel construction definitely gives it a substantial feel on the wrist. Enjoy wearing it at the lake!
Great royal blue and gold dial. Carrier delayed delivery two days to Vegas, watch is solid.
